Ukraine, behind the scenes<\/p>\n
Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, continuing the operation it began in 2014 with the annexation of Crimea.<\/p>\n
Sovereignty and land borders have been fundamentally violated in the process. Two eastern provinces have already been annexed after a bogus referendum. The West, led by NATO, reacted immediately with unconditional support for Ukraine.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, the conflict has spread and we are potentially on the brink of a third world war, with nuclear danger. The only winners seem to be the military-industrial complex: the arms factories are firing on all cylinders.<\/p>\n
Some believe that the Ukrainian people do not need arms, but peace. Others believe that peace cannot be negotiated from a position of weakness.<\/p>\n
